Residential Installation - Saratoga, California October 2008The first European settlement of what is now Saratoga occurred in 1848, when William Campbell constructed a sawmill about 2.5 miles southeast of the present downtown area. An early map noted the area as Campbell's Gap. Shortly after 1863 a spring was discovered which had a mineral content similar to the springs at Saratoga Springs, New York. In 1865, the town received its final name, Saratoga. Saratoga then became quietly agricultural, along with much of the rest of the valley. A few vineyards and orchards from this period remain today. After World War II, the town quickly became urbanized, and it incorporated in 1956. Today the city serves as a bedroom community for Silicon Valley tech workers.

Hot compressor gas is directed through water cooled condensersbefore entering the air cooled condenser coils. Hotwaste water is directed to a swimming pool. Using the poolas a cool water reservoir, the variable speed controlledcondenser fan runs minimally thereby saving KWHR andoperational dollars. Hot water is supplied by a natural gasfired 399K BTUH 95% AFUE boiler.Abe Stallcup from the Monterey Energy Group noted:“As a design engineer, Hydronika gave me the opportunity toprovide a unique solution to some challenging designcriteria. The ability to provide a system with multiple zoneheating and cooling capability, domestic hot water productionand pool heating from a quiet, single package, high efficiencyunit is unparalleled in the industry.“
