You have experienced heating and cooling via fan coils while staying in luxury hotels or fine restaurants. A typical hotel design is seen on the right. Upon entering the room the ceiling may be lower than the rest of the room. Behind the grate or slotting is a fan coil unit that is connected to hot and cold supply pipes running through the ceiling of the hotel corridor.
The thermostat in the room works with the fan coil unit when a guest sets a temperature, the fan coil quietly diffuses either warm or cool air.
